Woman competent to face trial over attack on Boston principal [Video]

A Massachusetts judge decided Thursday that a woman is competent to stand trial in connection with a violent assault on a Boston school principal three years ago when she was 16 years old. Laurette LaRouge, now 19, is charged with assaulting and seriously injuring the principal of the Dr. William W. Henderson Inclusion School in Dorchester in November 2021. At the time, Boston Public Schools Superintendent Brenda Cassellius said that the assault occurred during dismissal at the school’s Upper Campus. The principal suffered a concussion and possible rib fracture as well as swelling to her face and the back of her head, a police report said.
