Think Global Women: Inspire Inclusion

Highlights of a day designed to capture how we can create a more inclusive workplace?

Following a tradition of running five previous highly successful and impactful International Women’s Day events at the Institute of Directors (IoD) in London, we highlight this year’s theme of ‘Inspire Inclusion’ to champion inclusion in all its forms. At this IWD2024 event we Explore the value of international experience and how to share knowledge and expertise to deliver greater equity for women and girls and help to grow sustainable jobs and opportunities around the world.

Our popular format consisted of Morning workshop consisted of Keynote, Panel Interview and Roundtable Discussion, followed by lunch and with plenty of time for sharing experiences and networking.

Host Fiona Murchie, Founder and Managing Editor of Relocate Global and Think Global People opened the day and introduced the Keynote Speaker.

Interactive Keynote with Joy Burnford
Joy Burnford is the author of bestselling book ‘Don’t Fix Women: The practical path to gender equality at work’ and Founder of Encompass Equality. She shares the content of her highly practical book covering gender equality at work. Supported by interactive exercises she explains how to navigate your route whether as an individual or a manager, how to be an inclusive leader, the obstacles women have to overcome including health and wellbeing, caring responsibilities and confidence at work. She emphasises the importance of cultural frameworks and explores allyship, flexibility coaching and support.
In the panel discussion Marianne Curphey, journalist Relocate Global interviews two panellists. Dr Patriza Kokot-Blamey, author of Gendered Hierarchies of Dependency, senior lecturer, School of Business and Management Queen Mary, University of London. Amira Kohler, CIPD Fellow and performance and change management leader.
Roundtable discussions followed to explore how we can create a more inclusive workplace with facilitated tables on: Global Mobility; Dual Careers; Allyship; Education; Women’s Health and Wellbeing.

It is time to move things forward and for those working as managers and leaders in international roles, global mobility professionals and educators to collaborate to close the gender pay gap and create inclusive and flourishing workplaces.

We felt it important this year following the keynote, panel and the roundtable discussions to capture views and learning to help shape some Good Practice Guidelines to deliver across our community. We invite you to share your thoughts on ‘What are the key issues for Women?’ and ‘How can these be addressed?’.
