New Kenosha County Board seated minus Garcia, Gentz [Video]

The Kenosha County Board elected new leadership Tuesday night at an organizational meeting held in the wake of the spring election.

The board, by a 12-9 vote, elected Supervisor Monica Yuhas to the chair position. Yuhas defeated Supervisor David Geertsen in the County Board chair election. Yuhas defeated opponent Jonathan Butenuth in the April 2 election.

Supervisor Laura Belsky, who nominated Yuhas, called her leadership style “inclusive and collaborative, seeking input from various stakeholders before making decisions.”

“This approach has not only resulted in effective solutions, but has also fostered a sense of unity and cooperation within the county,” Belsky said. “One of the biggest challenges facing our county is the lack of unity within the County Board.”

Belsky said Yuhas would ensure decisions would be made in the best interests of people with “no room for personal gain or political favoritism.”
