Miss Cobb Countys Teen promotes inclusion of people with disabilities [Video]

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A metro Atlanta teenager is promoting the inclusion of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Carrington Manous, a 10th-grade student at Woodward Academy and Miss Cobb County’s Teen 2024, spoke with Atlanta News First about her work Sunday morning.

When she was in 2nd grade, Manous said she was diagnosed as twice exceptional, meaning she’s gifted and dyslexic.

The nonprofit Best Buddies has chosen Carrington as their Best Buddies Ambassador for their Training Speaking Series. She will host the “Our Differences Don’t Define Us” tour, which offers people with and without intellectual disabilities training for public speaking, self-esteem and confidence.

On Saturday, April 20, Manous will lead the Best Buddies Friendship Walk, which the nonprofit said is “the leading event in the country supporting inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.”
