Giving the possibility of art to those with developmental disabilities [Video]

CALUMET, Mich. (WJMN) – A program in Houghton is giving a chance to individuals with developmental disabilities to express themselves and form connections with other people through art.

Club Create – The Art of Possibilities is a program created by the Goodwill Possibilities Program and Michigan Arts. The program was put together to give the participants a chance to create art and learn while doing so.

“We help develop life skills, things that, I guess, some people do miss out on,” said Teresa Robins, the Program Coordinator for Goodwill Possibilities Program in Houghton. “The community inclusion, going to outside events, and having people to actually socialize with and learning how to do even what we consider sometimes simple tasks, appropriateness in public and things like that. It’s really important for us all to be together and to have fun.”
