A new nonprofit and ice cream business is set to open its storefront this summer, but will offer up sweetness in its mobile trailer long before then.

CraveABLEs, a new nonprofit founded by Taylor Perkins, a high school special education teacher, is set to shake up the landscape for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

More than just an ice cream parlor, craveABLEs aims to provide job skills training and employment opportunities while fostering a community of inclusion and support.

Perkins, who brings seven years of experience in adaptive special education, said craveABLEs was born out of an understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with intellectual disabilities as they transition from high school to adulthood. Perkins observed a pressing need for meaningful employment opportunities for her students beyond their academic years.
