The excitement of WooSox Opening Day is being overshadowed by the death of the team’s chairman, influential baseball executive Larry Lucchino. The former Boston Red Sox president has died of congestive heart failure at the age of 78. His career included time with the Orioles, Padres and Red Sox, where he helped lead Boston to three World Series championships during his 14-year tenure. Lucchino stepped down from his role in Boston after the 2015 season.
