SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — GLIDE will hold a celebration of life for its co-founder, Reverend Cecil Williams, on Sunday, May 12, in GLIDE Memorial Church Sanctuary at 330 Ellis Street in San Francisco.
Williams passed away peacefully at home on April 22 surrounded by close friends and family members. He was 94. The celebration will honor Williams’ legacy and unwavering advocacy for the city’s most marginalized people.
For over 60 years, Williams expanded the limits of activism, inclusion, and diversity as GLIDE’s Minister of Liberation of GLIDE. Through his social justice, community leadership, and service as a minister, Williams is recognized as a national leader at the forefront of social change.
In his six decades of leadership, Williams realized his vision of a radically inclusive, just, and loving community at GLIDE.
