Public reminded of snow removal efforts despite unusually mild winter [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) – It has been an unusually mild winter in Rapid City this year. Still, when we have winter weather, it brings a fair share of snow, like we saw this past weekend.

While this latest snowfall quickly melted, we could see more snow through the spring, prompting a reminder about clearing sidewalks in front of homes and businesses.

During the fall, the City of Rapid City put out a notice reminding residents of the importance of snow removal from sidewalks. The city has an ordinance that addresses that. Home and business owners have 24 hours after a storm has passed to remove any snow or ice from their sidewalks.

Rapid City communications coordinator Darrell Shoemaker says home and business owners should take this public safety issue seriously.
