Maharashtra Day 2024: From Schools To Offices, Check What’s Open, What’s Closed On May 1 [Video]

Maharashtra Day which commemorates the creation of the state in 1960 when the Bombay Presidency was reorganised based on linguistic lines will be celebrated on May 1. The Maharashtra government has announced a public holiday on May 1, 2024, for the 64th foundation day of the state.  

Services To Remain Closed In Maharashtra On May 1

Educational Institutions: Schools and colleges will remain closed on May 1 across Maharashtra in observance of the state’s foundation day.

Banks: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has also confirmed that banks across Maharashtra will not operate on May 1. 

Government Offices: The state government has declared a public holiday for all of its employees marking the Maharashtra Diwas.

Corporate Offices Paid Leave: Corporate offices will remain shut as May 1 also marks International Workers Day or Labour Day, which is celebrated to recognise the contribution of the working class to the global economy.
