Kerrick Jackson pioneers diversity in college baseball | Mizzou Xtra [Video]

COLUMBIA — Kerrick Jackson has continued making his mark in the world of baseball. Back in June, Jackson was hired as the first Black head baseball coach in the history of Missouri athletics and the SEC. Though making history is important, he’s hoping that his title can change for minorities within the diamond sport.

“Regardless of me being the first Black head baseball coach in the SEC, this job and being at this place was my dream job,” Jackson explained. 

The St. Louis native’s ties at Missouri run deep. Jackson served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Tigers from 2011 to 2015. During that time, Missouri made back-to-back trips in 2011 and 2012 to the Big 12 conference tournament championship. 

Thirteen years later, Jackson became the fourth Black collegiate coach to guide a Power Five baseball program since 2021.
