Judge sentences former teacher, coach Josh Hood to five years in prison [Video]

On Wednesday, Clay County judge Shane Alexander sentenced Josh Hood to five years in prison, despite the former coach and teacher’s plea for a lesser punishment.Judge Alexander upheld a Clay County jury’s December recommendation that Hood, 46, should spend five years in prison after his conviction of second-degree felony statutory rape.Hood’s sentence came after two women stepped forward to share their stories.Hood’s secrets with a young girl at Holden High School in 2003 and 2004 and another at Staley High School in 2010 came to light before the jury as both women testified in the trial.The districts that employed Josh Hood have previously said they had no direct knowledge of the allegations.The woman at the center of the Clay County case shared how Hood sexually assaulted her at his home in 2010.
