Digital Desk: Black entrepreneurs in the spirits industry [Video]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) -The spirits industry is worth approximately $200 billion, with Black Americans accounting for 12 percent of revenues. However, behind the glass, they account for fewer than 8 percent of the workforce and only 2 percent of senior positions.

To address this, industry veterans formed Pronghorn, a two-year-old company dedicated to helping and cultivating Black spirits entrepreneurs and leaders through direct funding and marketing support.

Pronghorn has assisted 23 brands, 36 percent of which are created by women, in transitioning from homegrown to national distribution. They want to more than double this number.
