City of Lincoln designated as Economic Development Certified Community and Kiva Hub [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The City of Lincoln has been designated as an Economic Development Certified Community and Kiva Hub to support underserved women and minority-owned businesses.

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and local business officials made the announcement at a news conference Monday morning.

“We are proud that Lincoln is the first city in Nebraska to become a Kiva Hub, as Kiva loans can change lives,” Mayor Gaylor Baird said. “These two new designations recognize Lincoln’s efforts to foster entrepreneurship and create new economic opportunity, helping us grow the great life for all.”

Luke Peltz, Vice President of Economic Development with the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development (LPED), said the designation signifies to employers and potential newcomers that Lincoln has the essential ingredients for economic opportunity and a great quality of life.

The Economic Development Certified Community designation is sponsored by the Nebraska Diplomats and administered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
