Councilmember Vanessa Fuentes is set to introduce a resolution that would provide coverage for certain treatments, including IVF.

AUSTIN, Texas — At Austin’s regularly scheduled city council meeting on March 21, leaders will look into options to expand healthcare access to city employees. 

A resolution is set to be introduced by Councilmember Vanessa Fuentes that will discuss including coverage for certain treatments, including In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). 

According to Fuentes, the goal is for the city to be more inclusive and provide coverage that would otherwise not typically be offered.

“If we want … [the] City of Austin to remain a competitive employer, they should be offering this as part of their health package,” said Fuentes.

The city’s current benefits include coverage of infertility diagnostic services, along with a legal insurance plan that covers some legal costs associated with foster care and adoption.
