CASA GRANDE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) —An Arizona woman is making sure women get a safe ride home with the state’s first-ever women-only rideshare service.
Safety and empowerment are the new concepts behind Casa Grande woman Megan Hjelle’s new business, Alegna. Hjelle wanted to create a ride service that is not only operated by women but also for women.
“It is only women drivers. We do not have men drivers or men invested in or working for the company,” Hjelle said.
Alegna is the first of its kind in Arizona and offers safe rides for ladies in Maricopa and Pinal counties.
“You want to go out and have fun without having to worry about that extra stress. You want to go out and know you are protected and can let your guard down,” Hjelle said.
Each driver is CPR and first aid certified and has completed self-defense training. Drivers are also required to have a self-defense …
