Black-women owned pharmacy changing the narrative for healthcare disparities with community based program [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Two doctors, Dr. Jennifer Campbell and Dr. Pauline Long founded MedsPlus Consulting to provide quality healthcare to minorities who sometimes have limited access to healthcare. They are helping patients understand the medications they are taking and why. Tuesday, they held their first educational program at the Five Points West Library, which was a great success.

The doctors hope that events like this will start a healthy lifestyle change in the participants. They documented health information, gave tips for exercising and food, and provided healthy recipes and tutorials on how to make healthier snacks.

Dr. Long says, “Not everyone can drive from their home to downtown to go to the hospital.”
