Ryan Corbett, who lives in the Rochester suburb of Dansville, has been held captive in Afghanistan since August 2022.

Ryan Corbett is from Dansville in Livingston County.

A prisoner swap between the U.S. and the Taliban freed two Americans in exchange for a Taliban figure imprisoned for life in California on drug trafficking and terrorism charges.

Corbett was taken captive on a business trip in August 2022. His family said their hearts are filled with overwhelming gratitude and praise to God for sustaining his life and bringing him back home.

“He has been there so long and is exhausted, physically declining, weakening and it’s very difficult for him to keep hope,” said Anna Corbett, Ryan’s wife. “So I reminded him many people are praying. We’re praying for him, and just can’t wait to get him home.”
