West Alabama business expands summer intern program [Video]

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) -Summer is winding down and so are some internships that allow college students to gain experience that helps them begin professional careers.

A west Alabama company in the automotive industry recognized members of its own internship program while also getting state support to grow that program.

ARD Logistics is a minority-owned company based in Vance.

In the last two years, the company has reshaped its internship program to include students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities and now Alabama’s Black Belt.

This week it hosted a program to recognize its summer interns – Tyler Sams from Alabama A&M, James Ballard from Miles College, Collin Posey from Tennessee State, and Donovan Dicker from the University of West Alabama.

Organizers feel students from HBCUs don’t get the same opportunity for internships as students from other colleges.
