VIDEO: Burglars break into Smyrna pizza restaurant, drag out ATM [Video]

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Three people broke into a Smyrna pizza restaurant on New Year’s Eve and stole its ATM, security footage from the restaurant shows.

The suspects, who were dressed in all black, smashed through the front glass and brick of Chicago Pizza & Sports Grille off Highlands Parkway SE at around 4:45 a.m. They then dragged the ATM out of the business, nearly tripping over the debris.

Keith Weaver, the restaurant’s owner, said it’s lucky that no one was injured.

“I would recommend to other businesses not to have an ATM near the front door or window and also put pillars on the sidewalk to prevent this from happening,” he told Atlanta News First. “We get so comfortable. I don’t think of the unexpected happening.”

Weaver said the same thing happened about five years ago, but the thieves weren’t able to take the ATM.
