Big news from the University of Alaska Anchorage—Chancellor Sean Parnell is stepping down.
Parnell announced he will retire and will not commit to another four-year term as UAA’s leader. He was appointed to the position in 2021 by UA President Pat Pitney.
Parnell says his decision is largely based on wanting to spend more time with family and loved ones.
“I hope to have more flexibility to care for parents and to focus on relationships with other family members, friends, and former colleagues. Additionally, I plan to have more time to research, write, and continue coaching or teaching emerging leaders.”
His resignation will be effective in mid-May. University officials are expected to begin the search for his replacement soon.
