Government agencies in the Magic Valley on Tuesday were looking into the effects of Monday’s sweeping order from President Donald Trump to pause payments of some federal grants, loans and programs.
Just before the funding pause went into effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday, a federal judge temporarily blocked it until Monday. On Wednesday, the Trump administration rescinded the order completely.
Trump’s acting director of the Office of Management and Budget, Matthew Vaeth, issued the memo on Monday ordering federal agencies to temporarily pause disbursement of some federal financial assistance and activities related to foreign aid, woke gender ideology and diversity, equity and inclusion.
“The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve,” the memo states.
