Federal employees who work in diversity, equity and inclusion roles are being put on paid leave as the Trump administration ends all federal DEI programs.
MINNESOTA, USA — Across the federal government, department heads are receiving a memo from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management that says all employees who work in diversity, equity and inclusion-based roles (DEI) must go on paid administrative leave effective immediately.
The memo states all federal DEI websites and social media accounts must also be shut down. Wednesday afternoon the DEI page for the U.S. Department of Treasury showed a message that says “page not located.”
In his executive order President Trump says these DEI programs “divided Americans by race, wasted taxpayer dollars and resulted in shameful discrimination.”
“Our country is going to be based on merit,” President Trump said.
