IFC has released the trailer for the upcoming film BlackBerry, which tells the true story of the rise and fall of the people and company that created the incredibly popular BlackBerry device. The film was adapted from the book Losing the Signal: The Untold Story Behind the Extraordinary Rise and Spectacular Fall of BlackBerry by Jacquie McNish and Sean Silcoff.
BlackBerry tells the story of Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, the two men that charted the course of the spectacular rise and catastrophic demise of the world’s first smartphone. The film is described as “a whirlwind ride through a ruthlessly competitive Silicon Valley at breakneck speeds.”
Jay Baruchel takes on the role of Mike Lazaridis and Glenn Howerton plays Jim Balsillie, Matt Johnson is Doug Fregin, and it also stars Michael Ironside, Saul Rubinek, Cary Elwes, Rich Sommer, SungWon Cho, and Michelle Giroux.
