This is not the end: KC Daiquiri Shop closes doors to metro residents [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A local Black-owned business is set to serve a hot pot of gumbo to chilly metro residents for one last day in Kansas City.

Owners of KC Daiquiri Shop, a New Orleans-inspired restaurant at 1116 Grand Blvd. that serves frozen daiquiris, announced on Saturday, Dec. 1, that the doors to the Black-owned business would close for good that evening.

The shop, which opened in 2019, quickly became a popular spot for the community to gather with frozen drinks. Founders Calvin Vick and Kinley Strickland cited the slow economy and challenges with local and state government as reasons for the closure.
