“Weve come together this evening just to celebrate each other.”
After reading the book ACRES OF DIAMONDS by Russell Conwell, I am convinced we are all leaving the diamond mines in our own backyards as we travel around the world looking for larger diamonds, when in fact the diamonds we seek are found within us and our hometown, from whence we came. Therefore, we are calling the podcast, #IAMRIVIERABEACH. Today’s Guest: Shed Lang Mr. Lang moved to Riviera Beach in 1986 and settled in Monroe Heights. Most of his best memories occurred while living in this city. He realized the potential early on and knew He wanted to open a business one day. He didn’t know what he wanted to do, but he knew that he wanted to be here. He worked for AT&T for nearly 20 years, and during that time, He had an opportunity to travel and visit many cities across the country. One in particular that fascinated him was Tulsa, Oklahoma. He heard about the 1921 riots that decimated a thriving black community but was hopeful after seeing what that community had done to turn things around. He visited a plaza where it was predominantly black-owned. The parking lot was packed, and the businesses were booming. He thought- ?why not in Riviera Beach??. The demographics were very similar, but we lacked business opportunities. He plans to meet with local black-owned businesses to start the Build Back Black Wall Street Initiative .After retiring in December 2021, He decided to be his own boss. He was done with the corporate world, saying it wasn’t for him. So he took his life savings and stepped out on faith, and became the proud owner of Boulevard Subs & More.
