Social Security Warning Issued by Economist if Donald Trump Wins: ‘Risks’ [Video]

A political economist has warned of several “risks” to the Social Security program if Donald Trump becomes president.

Chuck Warren, who has previously worked with several GOP groups, predicted that in the case of a Trump win come November, Republicans could seek to privatize Social Security, raise the retirement age and cut back benefits for some Americans.

“Attempts may be made to increase the age of eligibility for both Social Security and Medicare due to growing life expectancies,” he told Yahoo Finance. “However, it could also mean postponement of benefit entitlements for future pensioners who paid their savings into this system over decades.”

The Republican Study Committee, comprising 170 GOP lawmakers including numerous Trump allies, published a budget proposal in March this year that would include “modest adjustments to the retirement age for future retirees, to account for increases in life expectancy.”
