Sheriff Sheehan proposes changes to retirement payout plans for some employees at the Woodbury County Sheriffs Office [Video]

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Tuesday night the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors heard a new proposal from Sheriff Chad Sheehan on a new retirement payout for employees at the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Sheehan proposed that the percentage deputies and wage plan employees – there are about 10 currently working at the Woodbury County Sheriff‘s office – would receive the same payout benefits as the county’s union employees receive for paid out sick time when they retire.

The proposal would allow those employees, who have logged 500 sick time hours, to get 28% percent of their accumulated sick leave paid out, up to $5,000, when they retire. It would also lower years of service required to make the receive the benefits from 20 years of service to 15.
