CLARK COUNTY Wash. (KPTV) – Clark County deputies believe a convicted serial killer from the 1970’s has more victims. Several investigators on the original cases involving Warren Forrest have come out of retirement, seeking answers for women whose murders went cold decades ago.
“Investigators don’t like things that are unresolved. So, it’s been difficult for me throughout my police career,” said one of the formerly retired investigators, Doug Maas.
A formative moment in Maas’ career was a kidnapping performed by Forrest. At the time, Maas was working patrol with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. He went on leave as undersheriff in 1995 to become Vancouver’s police chief and then retired in 2000.
Maas said he’s been followed all those years by the cold cases connected to Forrest.
