Recapping Tucsons third annual Disability Pride Day [Video]

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The third annual Disability Pride Day took place on the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 7, at Udall Park.

The event is hosted to show that anyone—whether an organization, a community, or even a single person—can cause positive change in disability acceptance and awareness.

“Inclusion is a right. It’s not a privilege,” said Chris Desborough, community outreach director for Councilman Paul Cunningham’s office in Ward 2.

Desborough has helped put together Disability Pride Day every year.

With Saturday’s event, councilman Cunningham said the goal is to help able-bodied people become better educated about working with friends and colleagues who might have disabilities.

Cunningham seemed optimistic. “If we do, we’re going to get where we want to go as a community in how we treat people with disabilities.”
