Engines are fired up and pumpkins are primed, it’s time for the sixth annual pumpkin drop on the Kenai Peninsula.The event draws attention as the gourds are dropped from airplanes over a target in hopes of hitting the bullseye.Joel Caldwell, owner of Kenai Aviation which is hosting the event, said that the pumpkin drop concept started shortly after he and his sons began running the regional air service with one Cessna 206. He said his dream was to give to community of Kenai its own airline.
