A lot of back and forth has been going on with the Will Smith slap at the Oscar’s, to whether or not his wife Jada should’ve stopped him, to whether his wife should’ve defended him. A LOT to unpack, but one running theme has been “protect black women”. I want to dive deeper into that and ask, are we protecting black men who do step up to protect black women, or is this just another catchy slogan? Let’s dive in.
