OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) – One person was hurt in an apartment fire in Oshkosh Wednesday morning.
Dispatchers were told there was black smoke and fire alarms were going off at the apartments on the 1700-block of Taft Ave. at 7 a.m.
Fifteen units were evacuated.
The victim is a woman who lives in the apartment where the fire started. A maintenance supervisor and another tenant pulled her out.
“The same individuals who were able to get the victim out of the fire were able direct us to the location of the fire, which can sometimes be hard to find because of the heavy smoke,” Assistant Fire Chief Greg Stelter said, “so we were able to get a very quick attack on the fire when the fire company showed up and they were able to get a quick knockdown.“
The woman was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation. We don’t know her condition, but …
