Novant Health starts project backed by NASCAR great WSOC TV [Video]

Novant Health is underway on its latest local expansion project, backed by a donation from NASCAR champion Tony Stewart.

The health-care system recently started construction on the addition of Hemby Children’s Hospital Tony Stewart Intermediate Care Unit at 301 Hawthorne Lane. The specialized unit will expand access to care for patients who aren’t critically ill but still need close medical observation, testing or organ support.

The new unit will cost $4.2 million, which includes a $2.25 million donation from Stewart. Other donors include the Speedway Children’s Charities and supporters of the Hemby Golf Classic.
