IN OUR PROJECT COMMUNITY: NOVEMBER IS NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH — SO A GOOD TIME TO TELL YOU WORK IS WELL UNDERWAY ON A NEW INDIGENOUS ART CENTER IN THE CHAMPLAIN VALLEY. SHELBURNE MUSEUM’S “PERRY CENTER FOR NATIVE AMERICAN ART” WILL EXHIBIT AND CARE FOR THE MUSEUM’S MORE THAN 500 INDIGENOUS ITEMS FROM NEARLY 400 TRIBAL NATIONS. IT’LL BE AN 11- THOUSAND, 2- HUNDRED SQUARE FOOT CENTER THE MUSEUM SAYS AIMS TO BE WELCOMING TO NOT JUST PATRONS, BUT ALSO TRIBAL MEMBERS AND SCHOLARS WHO WANT TO STUDY THE COLLECTION. <WE SEE IT AS A TREMENDOUS EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE FOR VERMONT SCHOOLCHILDREN. IN ANY GIVEN YEAR, ABOUT 10 PERCENT OF VERMONT SCHOOLCHILDREN COME TO SHELBURNE MUSEUM FOR PROGRAMMING.
