New grocery store opens in Fairfield [Video]

FAIRFIELD, Ala. (WBRC) – The Carver Jones Market is now open in Fairfield, bringing a new grocery store to the area.

Prior to the market’s opening, owners said “100% of Fairfield — 3,400 households — have zero acceptable access to ‘good’ and fresh food, which leads to hunger, poor health, higher food prices, and increased morbidity.”

The market is minority owned and owners say their goal is to provide fresh, affordable food, jobs, and resources to the community. It’s mission is “to use affordable, healthy food as a catalyst for restoring faith, health, and equity in underserved communities.”

The grocery store’s concept is intended to impact people living in food deserts.

The new store is located at 4800 Gary Avenue, Fairfield, AL.
