Native Arts Market celebrates cultural diversity in downtown Spokane | News [Video]

SPOKANE, Wash. — A Native Arts Market was held in downtown Spokane Saturday to celebrate Native American Heritage Month.

The event brought tribes from across Washington and surrounding states.

It was organized by Elk Soup, a nonprofit in Spokane, and showcased unique handmade art.

“We are celebrating Native American Heritage Month by our culture,” said Jeff Ferguson, the executive director of Elk Soup. “We like to get together and show our heritage and our culture and our resilience at it is depicted in our artwork in so many different ways. It is just exciting to be here.”

The event took place at River Park Square and had around 30 vendors.
