SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Missouri State University will roll back on certain DEI programs due to increased pressure from state leaders.
Missouri State University president Richard B. Williams, alongside the university’s Board of Governors, announced changes to certain DEI-related programs on campus. The changes include:
- The office of inclusive engagement will be eliminated. Employees who were faculty before their current positions will return to their respective colleges, and the remaining staff will move to open positions across the university.
“38% of our budget comes from the state,” Williams said. “For us to continue providing a quality education to our students, we must align with the expectations established by state leadership.”
In addition:
- The Collaborative Diversity Conference and Inclusive Excellence Awards Gala are eliminated as university supported events. This year’s events are cancelled.
- The university will continue to evaluate how to be in full compliance with state and federal mandates.
