Meet Sioux Citys new Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator [Video]

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Sioux City has hired a new Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator.

Nancy Li has one week under her belt in the new role.

This position is in the Human Resources department and is heavily involved in the recruiting process for city positions.

The city launched a similar role in April 2021 under the City Manager. Semehar Ghebrekidan filled that role but she was fired for multiple workplace violations in May 2024.

Mayor Pro-Temp Dan Moore says it was a better fit for the city under HR. He called it a new position, rather than a replacement of the Community Inclusion Liaison.

”The primary reason was because we wanted to focus on the internal operations and that would come under the HR department so really it was a better fit to be under the HR department,” said Moore.
