TROY, Ala. (WSFA) – Randall Barr, who spent more than three decades with the Troy Police Department, the last decade as its chief, announced Thursday his plans to retire. Barr issued a statement on social media that thanked the mayor, city council, his family, the police department, and Troy residents.
“After much discussion, thought and prayer with my family and friends I have made the decision to announce my Retirement from the Troy Police Department,” the chief wrote.
Barr started his career in law enforcement in April 1989 with what was then Troy State University. He transitioned to the city’s police force in 1991.
