Latinas Lead Houston: Empowering Latinas in Business and Financial Awareness | Dream Big Ventures

Special thanks to Rita Bautista, CEO of Latina Podcasters, and Bessy Martinez, CEO of The Everyday Jefa, for orchestrating a phenomenal platform, Latinas Lead – Empowering Latinas in Business and Financial Awareness, hosted at Impact Hub Houston. Your efforts in bringing together Latina trailblazers are making a significant impact.

I had the pleasure of sitting on a panel alongside these amazing ladies, plus Pamela Martinez, Co-Founder and CTO of Snowball Wealth, and Yvonne Guidry, Founder of SpoiledLatina, in an event filled with insights and inspiration, where we showcased the power of financial literacy and entrepreneurship among a room full of Latinas.

By now most of us have heard that despite being the fastest-growing entrepreneurial segment, Latina business owners face significant funding gaps, receiving only a fraction of venture capital funding. Did you know Latina entrepreneurs are launching businesses at a rate 50X higher than the national average? (Latina Entrepreneurs Statistics: Gitnux Marketdata Report 2023) This growth highlights the significant role of Latinas in the expansion of the U.S. economy.

In a broader context encompassing Latino-owned businesses, which includes enterprises led by Latinas, according to LBAN/Latino Business Action Network’s latest State of Latino Entrepreneurship report, Latinx-owned businesses have shown positive recovery post-pandemic with a revenue growth rate surpassing that of white-owned businesses. This resilience and upward trend in the face of challenges underline the entrepreneurial spirit and adaptability of Latina and Latino business owners.

Gatherings like this, for and by Latinas, are more than just events – they are a movement towards bridging the gaps. The stories we share are meant to educate and empower our communities and are a call to action for all aspiring Latina entrepreneurs.
