Kentwood event showcases Black-owned businesses [Video]

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — An event at Woodland Mall Saturday featured local Black-owned businesses.

The fifth annual Black-Owned Business Showcase took place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. There were around 20 businesses, selling everything from clothing and desserts to candles and hair oil.

Event organizer Britney Sylvester, who also owns her own business, said the goal is to help give businesses a community and space to grow their brands.

“I feel like it is a great opportunity, because, again, some of these businesses do not have a place, so being somewhere centralized, it gives other individuals the opportunity to see what we are offering,” she said. “Like I said, it gets everyone in the community to shop with these vendors.”
