JCPS ‘Flash Dads’ visit J.B. Atkinson Academy to surprise students with positive energy | Education [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — JCPS Flash Dads surprised some students at the start of September on Wednesday.

Dads from across Louisville visited J.B. Atkinson Academy in the Portland neighborhood. Dads greeted the students as they walked into school to get them excited for the day.

“I just love diversity and giving kids the opportunity to get out there and see Black men and men of all colors really showing them that their hopes and dreams can come true,” said Rawleigh Richardson Sr. “You have men from all industries, all walks of life here taking some time off just to show them we’re here and we love you.”

Flash Dads is a Diversity, Equity and Poverty program created several years ago with efforts to bring in positive male role models. The group has grown over the years.

Every school they visit each month is a complete surprise for students and staff.
