A decades-long public servant has died in the line of duty during snow removal operations.According to a statement from Jackson County, Everett Carter, 61, had been part of the public works team for the past eight years and spent 40 years working for the county.Lifelong friend Rich Dunfield said Carter began working for Jackson County picking up trash at Lake Jacomo when he was just 13.“Giving and brave and lived with an honor that I hope that I can carry in my heart, because I truly don’t know many that live like him,” Dunfield said. “The job he did, he can’t be replaced.
