Inclusion and diversity at CPI | George Hurley: performer on stage, downstream scientist in the lab

Let’s meet George Hurley, one of our downstream scientists, a musical theatre performer, and co-chair of the LGBTQIA+ affinity group at CPI.

George brings his whole self to work every day, celebrating different sides of his multifaceted personality and utilising his technical and personal skills to navigate through the diverse roles he holds.

Last year, CPI signed the Catapult Network’s Inclusivity in Innovation Charter along with other partners, committing to share and learn best practices and to drive inclusivity in everything we do. Shortly after signing the charter, our people created affinity groups, these groups act as a safe space to discuss and share experiences. Members are committed to making the work environment as inclusive as possible and have made a significant impact so far.

As co-chair of PRISM, our LGBTQIA+ affinity group, George has been involved in multiple initiatives that deliver that commitment, including the launch of the Trans Inclusion and Transitioning at Work Policy which ensures our workplace is inclusive for trans people looking to join our teams as well as supporting our people to embrace their true self through the transition process.
