SWANSEA, Mass. (WJAR) – An ice cream shop in Massachusetts is promoting patriotism by offering free ice cream to children who can recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
The owner of an Eskimo King ice cream store in the Swansea area is said to be big on showing her patriotism for the country.
“Our theme always is pretty much red, white, and blue,” Megan Medeiros, an Eskimo King employee, said. “Our boss is big on patriotism.”
For decades, the team has been serving the community ice cream with a larger-than-life menu.
“July is always the busiest,” Medeiros said.
But besides the heat turning business up, a few years ago, they began sprinkling in something sweet for a patriotic proposal.
Children up to the age of 12 can get a free cone every Monday in July if they recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
