GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — The City of Grand Rapids is preparing for a pause in federal funding brought on by an Executive Order signed by President Trump.
The order pauses all federal grants and loans for 90 days starting Tuesday. Administration officials said that the pause is to ensure that funding complies with Trump’s executive orders, which include rolling back diversity, equity and inclusion programs in all federal agencies.
Grand Rapids City Manager Mark Washington shared a statement a day after the Executive Order was issued and said that “as of right now we have more questions than answers.”
Washington wrote that the city had been following the Executive Orders since Trump took office and that only recently they learned of the plan to pause federal funding and grants.
