ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Georgia NAACP leaders are disappointed after learning of an email sent to Georgia Tech faculty informing them of changes to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) online content.
Georgia NAACP President Gerald Griggs said the organization received the email from a concerned citizen. The email was sent to faculty from a Georgia Tech communications department employee.
According to the email, any online content with DEI words, such as diversity, inclusive excellence and justice, will be deleted from any Georgia Tech affiliated websites.
Griggs said he wants to meet with university leaders to discuss these changes.
“To get a full understanding of why they feel the need to erase diversity, equity and inclusion and any mentions of justice,” he said.
According to the email, the changes mean much online content written over the years will no longer be there or will have to be rewritten.
