LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A nonprofit that worked to help LGBTQ+ youth in the Louisville area is shutting its doors after leaders say it accomplished its mission over the past five years.
“This wasn’t an easy decision, but a decision that needed to be made,” organizers for Drag Queen Storytime Kentucky (DQSTKY) wrote on social media Friday.
According to the post, the organization was questioning what its next steps were and how it could continue to help more communities. However, leaders said they realized “we don’t have to anymore.”
“We made our impact,” DQSTKY explained. “The reality for us is our youth that have attended our events over the last five years are growing up but made friends within our organization along the way and now they are making a difference in the world.”
