Dozens of Education Department workers are put on leave over Trumps anti-DEI order [Video]

WASHINGTON (AP) — A labor union for federal workers says dozens of employees at the U.S. Education Department have been put on paid administrative leave in response to President Donald Trump’s order banning diversity, equity and inclusion programs in the federal government. American Federation of Government Employees Local 252 President Sheria Smith said Monday it’s unclear how many workers were put on leave or for what reasons. Smith says the majority of employees placed on leave don’t work in DEI initiatives. At least 55 workers received an email Friday saying they were being put on paid leave effective immediately pursuant to the Republican president’s executive order. Trump campaigned on a promise to shut down the Education Department.
